What is Unstructured Data?

Unstructured data refers to information that does not follow a predefined data model or is not organized in a pre-defined manner. It is typically text-centric but can include data such as dates, numbers, and facts. Compared to structured data, it is more irregular and ambiguous, making it difficult for traditional programs to interpret.

Unstructured data cannot be processed and analyzed using traditional data tools and methods. Since it lacks a predefined data model, it is best managed using NoSQL databases or preserved in its raw form using data lakes.
